Hello Third Grade

Image
Third grade is a milestone year for every student.    Usually, the new school year is exciting for most students, but for those entering third grade can be daunting.   Students are moving from the K- 2 hall to the 3-5 hall which means BIGGER kids, new faces, and more work.   In kindergarten through second grade, students were learning HOW to read.  Now they will be expected to learn FROM their reading.  Responsibility for completing, keeping up with and turning is their work increases.  Students receive letter grades instead of number grades.  Third grade is also the year that students face mandatory retention of a score of 3 or higher on the reading EOG or meet a Good Cause Exemption (Read to Achieve Law).   We will explore Read to Achieve and how it will affect your child another day.  Let us know if you and your child are READY for third grade by responding to this blog.  We look forward to hearing from you.
